STREETDATE May 10, 1999---

More info regarding that Disney MGM concert on May 12:

The show is free WITH a regular paid admission to Disney-MGM [about $42 +tax] and starts at 1:30pm in front of the Chinese Theatre [familiar setting to those who watched *NSync's last Disney special]. Tyrese will also be filming his "Summer Jams" tv segment during this time, so I don't know who's going on first. It is first come, first served for space in front of the stage, so get there as early as you can. Looks like I'm not going to make it because of work, so if anyone on the list goes, please send me a story for the Tour Diary [please, please :) ].

Also, *NSync is supposed to appear at Downtown Disney's Planet Hollywood in the afternoon, following the taping at MGM, but it could get moved to Thursday if the taping runs long. Again, if anyone goes, please send me a report. :)

In a recent Teen People article, Lance mentioned he now has an artist management company. You can find out all about his company and the artists, Meredith Edwards and Jack De Feo at FreeLance Enterainment's website: http://www.freelanceent.com/.

In a follow-up to last issue's story about people throwing water balloons at a Mall of America instore, it seems that the report given to me by the label was a little cleaned up. Several readers have written in about it and I hope to give you some eyewitness accounts soon.

*NSync's first e-list letter came out May 8, 1999. It has exciting news and stories about what NSYNC is doing, and a link to a page with exclusive photos and videos not available anywhere else. So if you're not yet on the elist go http://www.nsync.com/fanclub/index.html to sign up for it.

STREETDATE May 09, 1999---

After going double platinum and staying atop the "Total Request Live" heap for more than a month, it seems like nothing can stop *NSync... except, of course, a water balloon.

The 150 security officers employed by the 4.2 million-square-foot Mall Of America in Bloomington, Minn. had their hands full Thursday (May 6), as a well-attended instore appearance by *NSync was rained on by some water balloon-throwing pranksters. By 8 a.m. Thursday, a line consisting mostly of teenage girls stretched hundreds of yards down the hallways of the mall. According to local television reports, by noon 20,000 people stood in the line waiting for the pop sensations to arrive. The group was not scheduled to appear until 1:30 p.m., but the fans clutching CDs, posters, and other memorabilia waited impatiently.

The group arrived as scheduled and started signing autographs at the event, which was sponsored by retailer Sam Goody. But about an hour into the mall appearance, things went sour.

Marcia Appel, senior VP of Musicland, says that the group had been onstage for a little more than an hour when the trouble started. "A water balloon came directly from above, and hit the table on which they were signing with a considerable force," she says. "The security agents and the band's management had warned the crowd repeatedly throughout the day that any incidents of roughhousing would result in the band leaving the stage, for their safety and for everyone's safety."

The balloon was estimated to have fallen from four or five levels up. Due to safety concerns, the group's management and security decided that *NSync should leave the mall shortly after the incident. There was no word of any suspect apprehended at press time

*NSync appeared on Oprah's Mother's Day show May 7. The guys joined Oprah's show on video to remember how they nearly sent their moms to the funny farm. Joey once jumped onto a thin mattress from a second-story window. When Justin would go out with his friends, he'd always forget to call his mom and tell her he was okay. Lance's mom just hates to see her son in wrinkled clothes. Chris once played an old man in a play, and went to his house in costume and make-up to convince his mom he was the landlord who'd come to evict her. And JC walked over some freshly refinished hardwood floors, forever leaving his mark on the house. To all their moms, the boys send their heartfelt apologies.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LANCE!! :)

I spoke with Abs, J and Rich from 5ive prior to their show tonight in Orlando and they said they were extremely excited about the opportunity to go on tour with *NSync this summer to do their first U.S. tour. Abs added fuel to the fire by joking, "We plan to steal away all their fans with our performances." Good luck guys--*NSync are tough to beat!

STREETDATE May 03, 1999---

*NSync will be recording a new Disney special on May 12 at Disney MGM Studios at Walt Disney World. I'll be there and I'll post the review after the show. :)

The pay-per-view previously sheduled has been postponed until after this leg of the tour is over so that "no secrets of what happens at the show are given away to those who haven't seen it yet". Well guys, I think most of us already know. :)

*NSync met with survivors and classmates of the Littleton shootings last Friday prior to their concert in Colorado Springs. Lance told Wall of Sound last week that, "I think we have such a great thing right now, being their age. I think they can relate a lot better to us than a lot of adult counselors." Isn't it just like the guys to do something positive like that?? :)

STREETDATE April 29, 1999---

On May 1, *NSync gets in the groove with the classic Warner Bros. characters. The 5 band members, will share the stage with Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, Pinky and Elmyra in the special "The Warnerama Celebrity Showcase." The unique Saturday morning band of cartoon characters will be singing on NSYNC's smash singles "Tearin Up My Heart," "I Want You Back," and "God Must Have Spent A Little More Time On You." Later that day, the pop star ensemble will perform their version of the catchy "Pokemon" rap. The Kids WB appearances will be featured between the Saturday morning shows on May 1.

MTV News' John Norris caught Lance on the phone while the band was making a stopover in Idaho, and he filled MTV in on what the fivesome's been up to lately.

When the group's tour finally winds to a close in May, Lance says, the guys will have about a month to record their next album. According to Lance, the band has been working with veteran production/songwriting team David Foster and Diane Warren, who each received 1998 Academy Award Nominations for Best Original Song. (Warren was nominated for Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" from Armageddon while Foster was honored for co-writing Celine Dion's "The Prayer" from The Quest for Camelot.) Lance also told Norris that at least one song on the record will be co-written by Justin, and there will be at least one co-written by J.C. as well.

Once the album is finished, the guys are going back into rehearsal for the "Boys of Summer" tour with Five and Jordan Knight. The trek gets underway in early July and will include overseas dates in the fall as well as the group's first-ever trip to Brazil.

The as-yet-unnamed album is due out in October, right when the group plans to be working on its first movie. Not many details are currently available on the project, but Lance did tell Norris that the guys will be playing roles and not portraying themselves. He also mentioned that the group recently met with a number of writers in L.A., including Tom Hanks and some of his team. Miami is the guys' location of choice, and Lance said that the group may be looking to do something along the lines of the R-rated 1996 movie Swingers. Does that mean we'd be seeing *NSync in an edgier, less clean-cut light on the big screen? Yes and no, explained Lance. He told Norris that a PG-13 might be warranted, but the flick would most likely earn a PG. We'll keep you posted on these projects as more details become available.

The T.J. Martell Foundation, a non-profit organization with longtime music industry ties, launches their annual online auction event today (4/29) featuring items donated by celebrities to raise money for continued research into cures for leukemia, cancer and AIDS.

The auction, named Starbid '99 and hosted by First Auction, will run from April 29th through May 13th.

From *NSync, you can bid on an autographed framed promo poster from the first cd. Bidding starts at $29.00 and there is only one item up for bids.

It looks like *NSync has gone postal. First the U.S. Postal Service voted to add a stamp celebrating hip-hop to next year's '80s-related series. Now we have word that the Caribbean islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines will issue stamps featuring Chris, Lance, J.C., Justin, and Joey.

Starting May 2, *NSync will have its very own postage stamp. The island nations are among the few countries that allow living people to appear on stamps, and they've commemorated various entertainers in the past. The Postmaster of St. Vincent said she chose *NSync because the band "represented the best of what art and entertainment can present to young people, as they are positive role models with a positive message."

The stamps, which cost one Caribbean dollar, can only be mailed from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, but a website has been set up to help stateside fans get their hands on these very special souvenirs. Just point your browser toward www.nsyncstamps.com for more information. You can also buy the stamp from The NSYNC Store.

*NSync spent most of the afternoon prior to their Tuesday (3/30) evening show at the Nashville Arena in a recording studio with 20-year music veterans Alabama. The session was booked for the young hitmakers to add backing vocals to a newly-recorded version of "(God Must Have Spent) A Little More Time On You", which will appear on Alabama's next album.

According to RCA, the joint effort was the brainchild of RCA Nashville head Joe Galante. *NSync records for RCA's pop division and Alabama for the Nashville division. When asked why *NSync chose to do this, Justin replied, ''We've cut records with R&B artists, with pop artists, and we want to explore every aspect of music.''

*NSync have teamed with Phil Collins for a track on the upcoming Tarzan soundtrack. The tune, "Trashin' The Camp", features the performers scatting their lyrics. Check out a sample [minus the *NSync vocals] at http://disney.go.com/disneyrecords/tarzan/tracks/ tarzanclip3.wav. No word yet if the tune will actually appear in the Disney animated feature, or only be on the soundtrack.

STREETDATE March 20, 1999---

As if the boys in 'N Sync don't have enough, they now have their own day. Saturday, March 13, was declared *NSync Day in New Haven, Connecticut, where the group will performed that night. The city of New Haven and the state of Connecticut honored the band in a ceremony at the New Haven Coliseum at 5:30 before the group's show. The move was prompted by a petition circulated by New Haven radio station KC101 (and DJ Kerry Collins) that collected some 250 signatures. The station then presented the petition to the Mayor's office as well as to their State Representative, Chris DePino. Rep. DePino and a representative of the mayor's office were on hand to present *NSync with the proclamation.
